BOYSEN® Rust-Off™ Gray Alkyd Metal Primer #330

BOYSEN® Rust-Off™ Gray Alkyd Metal Primer #330 is a lead and chromate free, high rust inhibiting primer for interior/exterior steel and iron surfaces.

  • Excellent corrosion resistance formulated with special rust inhibiting pigments that are even more corrosion resistant than traditional lead and chromate pigments.
  • Excellent adhesion strong penetration into metal surfaces provides outstanding adhesion that gives long term protection.
  • Excellent hiding quality light gray shade offers optimal hiding for white and other colored topcoats.
Rust inhibitive primer or intermediate coat for maintenance of interior/ exterior architectural metal or structural steel (beams, doors, framing, railings, machinery).
PRACTICAL COVERAGE: 25 - 30 sq.m. / 4 liters / coat
DRY FILM THICKNESS:1.5 mils / coat
SURFACE DRY: Two (2) hours
DRY THROUGH: 5-6 hours
OVERCOATING INTERVAL: 8 hours to overnight
THINNING: Use BOYSEN® Paint Thinner #0340 if necessary
APPLICATION: By brush, roller or conventional spray
PACKAGING:16-liter, 4-liter and 1-liter can


Wipe the metal surface with a rag soaked in paint thinner to remove dust, dirt, grease, oil, wax and other foreign matter. For new G.I. sheets, etch the surface by applying 10% BOYSEN®Metal Etching Solution #71 (dilute 1 part of B-71 to 9 parts water). If repainting, wire brush or scrape rusted metals and apply BOYSEN® Metal Etching Solution #71 to remove all rust. Let it stay for 10-15 minutes. Be sure to wash off surface thoroughly with water, letting it dry before applying paint. Prime immediately after drying.

2nd & 3rd coat: BOYSEN® Roofgard™, BOYSEN® Cool Shades™, BOYSEN® Acqua Epoxy™, BOYSEN® Epoxy Enamel (for interior surface only), BOYSEN® Acrytex™, BOYSEN® Quick Drying Enamel
It can be applied over old alkyd paint that is in good condition. Surface preparation prior to painting must be followed. It can be topcoated as in "new metal.
