DESCRIPTION: Boysen® Cool Shades™ is a heat reflective colored roof coating that is water-based & has low VOC. It utilizes the technology of infrared-reflecting pigments that repel infrared light before it turns into heat. To maintain the heat reflective effect over time, Cool Shades™ is designed with an all-acrylic binder that provides excellent dirt pick up resistance.
HOW IT WORKS:
Infrared Reflective Pigments
Boysen® Cool Shades™ is designed with highly engineered infrared-reflecting (IR) pigments making it possible to create greens, blues, yellows, grays, and other shades of roof coating while reflecting infrared light and reducing heat build up. A paint film containing infrared-reflecting pigments will stay cooler than one containing non-reflective pigments of the same color. The ability of a colored object to reflect infrared light can be quantified through Total Solar Reflectance (TSR).
Dirt Pick-up resistance – The ability of IR pigments to reflect infrared light is affected by how long does the paint film stays clean. Boysen® Cool Shades™ all-acrylic technology is designed to keep the film durable and dirt pick-up resistant.
PRINCIPAL USES: Roof coating that provides cooling effect and energy savings.
Practical Coverage: 25-30 sq.m./4-Liter/coat
Surface Dry: Thirty (30) minutes
Recoat Time: Two (2) hours; seven (7) days to fully cure
Color: Laguna White, Beige, Terracotta, Green, Blue
Sheen: Gloss
VOC: <100 g/L
Application: Brush, Spray
Thinning: Use as supplied. If necessary, thin with not more than ½ Liter clean water per 4-Li can.
Surface Preparation
For optimum cooling effect,use water-based white metal primer.
PAINTING SCHEDULE
New Painting
Clean surfaces to be painted to be free of dirt, dust, grease and oil and other contaminants.
Primer : Boysen® Primeguard™ White #4301
Topcoat : Boysen® Cool Shades™ (2 coats) of desired color.
Repainting
Remove rust by sanding, scraping or wirebrushing. Treat rusted surfaces with Boysen® Metal Etching Solution #71 (rust converter) to completely remove rust. Wipe of treated areas with paint thinner to remove excess rust converter.
Primer : Boysen® Primeguard™ White #4301
Topcoat : Boysen® Cool Shades™ (2 coats) of desired color.
