BOYSEN® receives Lead Safe Paint® Certification

Quezon City – Keeping the company’s commitment to produce safer and more environmentally friendly paint products, Pacific Paint (BOYSEN®) Philippines, Inc. is one of the recipients of the Lead Safe Paint® Certification; being one of the first companies in the world to earn this newly-established program and distinction.
Established by IPEN, an international non-government organization, the certification program enables customers to know with confiendece that the paints that they are purchasing meet the Philippines mandatory regulatory standard and the world’s strictest regulatory standard for lead content in paint. In this case, as tested by leading third-party certifier SCS Global Services (SCS), the certification ensures that all paint brands manufactured by the company contains less that 90 parts per million (ppm) or 0.009% total lead (dry weight). This makes the paints safe to use; keeping consumers, their families, the painters and even the employees of BOYSEN® protected from the hazards of lead exposure.

Renewable every three years, Pacific Paint (BOYSEN®) Philippines, Inc. aims to continue earning the certification as it works steadily in ensuring the production of quality and safe paints. Among the brands included in the certification are: BOYSEN® Paints, Nation® Paints, Virtuoso™ Silk Touch™ and Titan Superflex™ Elastomeric Paint.

The EcoWaste Coalition, a public interest NGO in the Philippines, and the Philippine Association of Paint Manufacturers, with support from IPEN and the Occupational Knowledge International, deliberated and endorsed the lead safe paint certification standard in 2014. This endorsement followed the adoption in 2013 of a historic government policy phasing out leaded architectural, decorative and household paints by January 1, 2017 and leaded industrial paints by January 1, 2020.
